Best of the Web - The Sequel

I started this particular feature, then known as Voodooriffic Stuff on the Web, with the intention of it being an ongoing series. Well, that was 2010 and I kind of forgot about it! So here is the forgotten part II of my favorite things going on on the internet these days.

The Oak Drive-In - My favorite movie blog on the net. I like to think I have a vast knowledge of strange and obscure movies. But I've discovered many great films through the Oak Drive-In that I had never even heard of. The site also has a great style to it. Dick, the madman behind it, shares my stance on avoiding the negative focusing only on things he likes. He also is not afraid of nudity and sleaze, nor does he try and act like nudity and sleaze aren't some of the best parts!

At the Mansion of Madness - My other favorite movie blog. The Mansion focuses on obscure Euro horror. Another one that has enlightened me to some great stuff. On the recommendation of Giovanni I watched The Vampire Happening, a quirky little vampire sleaze comedy which is now one of my favorite films. Like the Oak Drive-in, the Mansion is very well written and also stays away from the negative "everything sucks" school of blogging which is such a problem these days.

Beasts in Human Skin - A site focusing on exploitation film girls and nudity. But what makes this site really interesting is it features bio pages with great info and photos of different "Grindhouse girls". In many cases the bios go well beyond what is available on Wikipedia and the such. It hasn't been updated in a long while, but the profiles alone are well worth multiple visits.

T-Shirt Bordello - I wear a lot of T-shirts. And I especially like quirky, odd takes on established properties. T-Shirt Bordello specializes in funny and/clever horror and sci-fi shirts. And unlike Fright Rags whose prices have gotten outrageous, the Bordello has a base price of just 16.99. I own the Miskatonic University shirt and it's one of my favs. It's not of the soft tee variety, but it is a bit softer than the average movie or music shirt. It's a hair tight in the armpits, but I wear smalls and that is very often the case. Probably wouldn't be the case with bigger sizes.

  1. Thank you for the honorable mention, Rob! It really is an honor to be held in such high esteem! I've been thankful for my tendency for finding the positive aspect in most entertainment I consume, although I do my best to not gloss over flaws either.

  3. My pleasure to both of you guys. And with you two doing such good work, I don't have to cover movies!

  4. Well shit! Thanks for the endorsement of Beasts in Human Skin! Now I feel guilty for not posting for nearly a year, but I think I'm going to remedy that soon. I didn't even know you had a blog so I'm going to have to look around a bit. I like what I see so far. I thought it might just be a digital shrine to Laura Gemser and Soledad Miranda... not that there would be anything wrong with that.

    1. Hey hey,
It's my pleasure. Great site and great twitter. I visit it often. And its cool, cause unlike most blogs, even without constant updates, it is still a great resource for sleaze.

  5. So I just checked out the "Girls" section of the blog and I was totally fucking right about Laura and Soledad! I knew they had to be there.
